Mark Bradford Ellis age 60, of Purcell passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 after a brief illness. Mark was born May 9, 1958 in Borger, Texas. He was the youngest of three children born to Billy John Ellis and Robbie Nell (Horn) Ellis. Mark grew up in Purcell and graduated with the class of 1976. While in high school he was a great athlete and excelled in football. He received a scholarship to play football at Northwestern State University in Alva, only playing one year.

At the age of 21 years old, Mark and his brother Mike went to work in the oilfield in Singapore. In 1985 he married Marla Sue Swart of Cordell, OK and together they had one daughter, Ashton and he helped raise Marla’s two children, Shara and Chad.     Mark worked hard to provide for his family.   For 22 years he worked overseas, working one month on and one month off. When he was off, Mark flew home to be with his family in Cordell.

At the age of 44, Mark suffered a heart attack and had to quit working overseas and returned home to Cordell. He soon regained his health he started working again in the oil field in Oklahoma and Texas. For the past 15 years he has worked as a Drilling Consultant for various oil field companies.         

On October 1, 2016, Mark married Lisa Karen Haggard of Arapaho, OK.

For the past 2 1/2 years they have made their home in Purcell where together the two families are now united as one large family of loving children and grandchildren.

 Mark loved his family and had a caring heart for others. He was proud to be a founding member and currently the secretary of a non-profit charitable organization call “Hard Hats & Helping Handz”. Supported by oil field companies and oil field workers. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed Golfing, spending time at Grand Lake, traveling and being the Grill Master for family cookouts and get-togethers.

He was preceded in death by:
Father,                  B. J. Ellis,
Step father,                    Gordon “Chip” Johanessan;
Brother,                Mike Ellis.
He is survived by:
Wife,                    Lisa Ellis of the home in Purcell,
Mother,                Robbie Nell Johanessan of Norman,
Daughter,             Ashton Ellis of Burns Flat, OK.
Stepchildren,        Shara Garmon and husband David of Cordell,
                              Chad Gorshing and wife Christian of Choctaw,
                              Zach Foley and wife Chelse of Araphao,
                              Josh Foley and wife Blair of Weatherford,
                              Jack Gutermuth and wife Chelle of Clinton,
                              K. Foley of Araphao.
Sister,                             Johnette Ellis of Norman,
8 grandchildren,   Paige, Kaylee, Alyssa, Kaytem, Ali, Jovi, Acre, Addison and two more on the way.
Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation with family and friends will be on Monday, April 1, 2019 from 6-8pm at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Memorial services will be 5pm Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Boney Matthews Gymnasium at the Purcell Jr. High, 201 Lester Lane, Purcell, OK. Memorials may be made to the Purcell Alumni Assoc. or the Hard Hats & Helping Handz.org.
