Joy LeAnna Ellis, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, in her hometown of Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 48. Born on March 16, 1976, in Durant, Joy was the daughter of Jean (Jones) Riddle and the late Jack Riddle.
Joy is survived by her son, Hunter Ellis of Durant, her mother, Jean Riddle of Durant, her brother Jon Riddle of Durant, and her sisters, Jacki Riddle of Oklahoma City and Jeanna (Riddle) Thompson of Durant. Joy was a proud and loving aunt to her niece and nephew, Madison and Reid Thompson, children of Jeanna and her husband AJ Thompson of Durant. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Riddle, whom she loved dearly. Joy will be remembered for her fiery spirit and her love for her family.
A celebration of life service will be held in Joy’s honor at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Durant, Oklahoma, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her life. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
