Bowden Olene Ellis was born in Calera, Oklahoma to parents, Robert Perry and Verda Knowles, and was the middle child of a large family of six brothers and two sisters.
Bowden and Jim Ellis met at a boarding house in Wichita, KS. They married five months later on March 27, 1943, and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. Their marriage has always been filled with love and laughter, as everyone who knows them will agree.
Bowden was very active in the Stine Road Baptist Church, serving as director of "Prime Timers" for almost 10 years. The family has been truly blessed by the friends they have made as a result of this ministry.
Bowden is survived by her husband, Jim Ellis; three children, daughter, Sharon and husband, Jerry Gollehon of Bakersfield, son, Kenneth and wife, Pam of Fairview, Oklahoma, and son, Kevin and wife, Nancy of Magnolia, Texas; brothers, Warren and wife, Murel, Weldon and wife, Maudin, Clayton and wife, Peggy, Wendell and wife, Bobbie Knowles; sister, Janelle and husband, John Hall, all of Oklahoma; seven beautiful grandchildren and seven wonderful great grandchildren.
Bowden will always be remembered as a loving wife, Mother, and Friend who always knew the perfect thing to do or say.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. in the Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Ave.
Services will be held Friday, April 23, 10:00 a.m. at Stine Road Baptist Church.
