AJ Ellis
November 29, 1934 ~ November 21, 2018

Celebration of life service for AJ Ellis, 83, of Fairmont, will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 30, 2018, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dave Jones officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

AJ was born November 29, 1934, in Erick, Oklahoma to George W. and Thelma Lizzie (Baucom) Ellis, and passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Enid.

AJ grew up in Erick, graduated from Erick High School, and attended Sayre Jr. College. He served in the United States Navy and was discharged in 1960. Then he attended Oklahoma State University, and there he met Sara Hughes. They were married on January 25, 1964, in Mid West City, and they made their home in Enid. AJ worked for ODOT as a Transportation Equipment Operator. He retired in 2001 and began driving a School Bus for Waukomis. He loved to watch sports and spending time tinkering in his shop.

AJ is survived by his wife Sara; children Holle Poindexter and husband Chris of Fairmont, and Jay Ellis and wife Stacy of Lawrence, Kansas; 2 grandchildren Zoe Lamunyon and Aaron Poindexter; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Waukomis Christian Church.
