Richard Grant Elliott, age 78, of Lawton passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born on April 3, 1939 in Poughkeepsie, New York to Arthur and Katherine (Williams) Elliott. *He joined the United States Army in 1958 and proudly served his country for over twenty-two years. While in the Army, Richard received numerous awards, medals and citations and did tours in both Korea and Germany before retiring at Fort Sill.
Richard married the love of his life, Chom Sun, on March 12, 1965 in Seoul, Korea and they spent the next forty-one wonderful years together. He started working as a carrier for Goodyear in 1978 and worked there for over twenty years before retiring in 1999. He stayed very active in his community, volunteering at Comanche County Memorial Hospital and at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin. Richard was a member of the Harmony Church and enjoyed watching golf and football in his free time, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife, Chom Elliott; his parents, Arthur and Katherine Elliott; one son, Raymond Elliott and one brother-in-law, Carl Clingenpeel,
Richard is survived by one son, Steve Elliott and wife Ila of Lawton; one grandson, Devin Elliott of Cache; one granddaughter, Keelym Elliott of Tulsa; one great grandson, Carson Elliott of Tulsa; one daughter-in-law, Melissa Elliott of Tulsa; two brothers Art Elliott and wife Andrea of West Farmington, Ohio and Tong Chong and wife Myong of Lawton; one sister, Marty McCoy and husband Denny of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Soon Ye Clingenpeel of Lawton; four nephews, Willy Chang of Oklahoma City, Mark Elliott and wife Tina of Muncie, Indiana, Joel Elliott and wife Cory of Pinckney, Michigan and Kyle Elliott of Novi, Michigan; three nieces, Kathy O'Neal and husband Todd of Tulsa, Jenny Allen and husband Ross of Oklahoma City and Adrine Hunt of Raleigh, North Carolina and two caregivers, Charlotte Thompson and Drucilla Joken along with numerous other relatives and close friends.
