Marquitta Jo (Jackson) Elliott was born on March 31, 1936 in Pampa, Texas to Arnes Lee and Arizona Marie (McAlister) Jackson. Marquitta Jo was a longtime resident of Calera, Oklahoma.
Marquitta Jo was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and aunt to precious nieces and nephews. She loved family, good food, pretty flowers and country music that could make her toes tap. She retired as Director of Nursing for Bivins Retirement Center in Amarillo, Texas. Marquitta Jo passed away after a severe bout of pneumonia with her family by her side. She loved the Lord and held family close.
Marquitta Jo is survived by her daughter, Rose Poindexter; son, Joe Miller; son in law Steve Bates all of Calera; sister, Sandra Hutchins and husband Roger of Logan, NM; step children, Nelda Elliott Barbian and husband Tony and Kathryn Cozby and husband Joe all of Plainview, TX; grandchildren, Brandon White, Mikey White, Kenny Lee Poindexter and wife Adelaide, Candita (Candi) White all of Slaten, TX, Jackson Bates and wife Gina of Calera, Jeremy Miller of Amarillo, TX, Jesse (JJ) Miller, Morgan Miller both of Calera and Rachel Barbian of Plainview, TX; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Marquitta Jo raised her family with love, honesty and integrity, a standard to measure your own life by.
Marquitta Jo was preceded in death by her husband, George Elliott; son, Kelly Miller; daughter, Tracy Bates; sister, Hazel Short and brother, Arnes Jackson.
