Billy Joe "Bill" Elliott

May 2, 1928 ~ June 4, 2005

Billy Joe "Bill" Elliott, 77, passed away at Deaconess Hospital in OKC, OK on June 4, 2005. Born in Tuttle, OK May 2, 1928 to Chester Carl and Margaret Ellen (Bays) Elliott of Tuttle, OK.

Bill was raised in Tuttle and graduated from Tuttle High School in 1946. He was a state meat inspector and retired from the Oklahoma Agriculture Department. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and stories. He enjoyed family, fishing at the lake, cookouts, vacations to Colorado and other areas were highlights of his life.

An outgoing personality, he never traveled far without seeing someone he knew and enjoyed talking their leg off and making them smile. He loved animals and enjoyed telling all about them.

He married Evelyn Watson - Parker on February 14, 1970, and moved to El Reno in the same year. They established Yukon Flowers and Gifts in 1979, later opening Heritage Flowers and Gifts in El Reno. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of El Reno where he sang in the men's quartet. He is preceded in death by his parents Chester Carl Elliott and Margaret Ellen Elliott; infant daughter Mary Lynn Elliott, and grandchildren, Bethany Rachelle Elliott and Matthew William Elliott.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Evelyn and son Joshua of the home; His son Danny P. and wife Brenda Elliott of Bethany, OK; daughter Joyce C. and husband Richard Thornton of Edmond, OK; daughter Tajuana F. and husband George Wisner, El Reno; son Charles M. and wife Sherri Elliott, El Reno; son Marc A. and wife Kay Parker, El Reno; son John Patrick and wife Shawna Elliott, El Reno. Papa Bill's grandchildren are Army S.SGT Erick Elliott, OKC, OK; Stephen Cox, OKC, OK; Chris and wife Jennifer Elliott, of Moore, OK; Air Force S.SGT David and wife Aimee Cox, Bellevue Nebraska; Rodney Parker, Harrison Arkansas; Andrea and husband Rich Littlecreek, Moore, OK; Erin and husband Cory Tinsley, El Reno; Matt and wife Ashley Wisner, El Reno; Jason Elliott and Tonya Mullins, El Reno; Army SPC. Michael Duff, El Reno; Christina Elliott, Norman, OK; Jeanette and husband Steven Brown, OKC, OK; Jesse Subtle, El Reno; Justin Elliott, Bethany, OK; and Dalton Wisner, El Reno; along with 13 great-grandchildren, sister Hazel Troop of Tuttle; aunt, Helen Tennery - Kellison of El Reno, and special, loving friends, Raymond and Ruby Nickels, Moore, OK; along with numerous family, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Trinity Baptist Church, El Reno, OK, with cousin, Rev. Wayne Childers of Tuttle, OK officiating. Services were under the direction of Wilson's Funeral Home in El Reno.

Bill fought a courageous battle with cancer and kept his sense of humor. He loved and enjoyed his family and will be deeply missed by all. We will never forget his contagious smile and the way we laughed together. Corinthians 5:7-8...we walk by faith, not by sight.
