Jimmie Harrol Elenburg, 88, of Ponca City, Oklahoma was the son of Ernest and Elizabeth (Killian) Elenburg. Jimmie was born on August 14, 1926, in Shawnee, Potawatamee County, Oklahoma and died February 25, 2015, in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Jimmie was a 1944 graduate of El Reno High School in El Reno, Oklahoma. After graduation from high school, Jim served in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman, from 1944-1946. Upon completion of his service to our country, Jim went to Oklahoma A M in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He obtained an Associates Degree in Electronics in 1948.
On October 1, 1949, Jim married his high-school sweetheart, Mary Frances Fink, at The First Presbyterian Church in El Reno, Oklahoma.
After graduation, Jim moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma and began working for Conoco in the geophysics department. He was employed with Conoco for 35 years and retired from their research services department in 1983.
Jim was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, the Northern Oklahoma Gems and Minerals Society, the Ponca City Literacy Council, and received the Life Member award in the Noon Lions Club. He also enjoyed spending time rock collecting, golfing, and doing woodwork.
Jimmie is preceded in death by both of his parents; his sister, Dixie Nixon; and his son-in-law, John Jacobs.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Frances Elenburg of Ponca City, Oklahoma; his son, Stephen Elenburg of Ponca City, Oklahoma; his daughter, Peggy Jacobs of Ponca City, Oklahoma; his three grandchildren: Meissa Jacobs, Katie Quillin, and Michael Jacobs; and his 6 great-grandchildren: Julien and Luella Gray, Finn and Poppy Quillin, and Jaiden and Bailey Morris.
A memoral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
