Steve Eggers

Longtime Pawhuska resident and Tulsa World carrier Steve Eggers passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Bartlesville, OK. He was 64 years old.

Steve was born September 16, 1952 in San Francisco, CA the son of Albert and Barbara Eggers and was raised in the Los Angeles area. In 1970, the family moved to Bartlesville, OK. Steve stayed in California to finish high school, graduating from Notre Dame High School in Encino, CA. After moving to Oklahoma to join his family, he attended two years at Oklahoma State University.

In 1973, Steve met the love of his life, Carol Jo Brown of Bartlesville. They were married on December 14, 1974. In 1975, the Eggers established their home in Pawhuska, where Steve became the Tulsa World carrier for forty years. Steve loved Pawhuska, its people and its rich history. He loved being a little league baseball and softball coach for his son and daughter. He also served as a mentor to many kids around the Pawhuska area over the years.

Survivors include: his son, Eric Eggers and companion, Janell; his daughter Stephanie Deatherage and husband, Johnny; his mother, Barbara Eggers; his sister, Laura McDermott; four grandsons, Nathan, Eli, Landon, Jackson, Luke and Colin; several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends who will miss him greatly.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Albert Eggers; and his loving wife, Carol.

A memorial mass will be held Friday, February 24, 11:00AM, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Pawhuska. Father Sean Donovan will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Rivercross Hospice, 2301 SE Washington Blvd., Suite C, Bartlesville, OK 74006, or Oklahoma Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, 3470 SE Frank Phillips, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
