Ruth (Briggs) Edwards
November 10, 1915 ~ April 1, 2011 (age 95)

Edwards, Ruth (Briggs), 95, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma.  She was born November 10, 1915 in Inman, Kansas to J. Arthur and Minnie (Achiles) Briggs.  Ruth was united in marriage on September 12, 1937 in Inman, Kansas to Joseph W. Edwards.

Ruth was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Inman, Kansas.  Besides being a homemaker, she also worked for 18 years in the daycare at Trinity United Methodist Church and alongside her husband custom harvesting for 25 years.  Ruth was a terrific cook with her specialties being oatmeal cookies, Swedish meatballs and her special George Washington pie. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, quilting and playing the piano.  She also played the harmonica, accordion, violin and sang in a quartet when she was younger.

Ruth is survived by her husband, J.W. "Bill" Edwards of Norman; one son, Dennis Edwards and wife Buffy of Norman; one daughter, Kathleen Edwards Schmidt and husband Darrel of Denver, CO; one sister, Maxine Pauls of Hutchinson, KS; son-in-law, James Perry; six grandchildren, Diane Perry Hurst and husband Chris, Rhonda Perry Meyer and husband Tom, Jarret Schmidt and wife Michelle, Jason Schmidt and wife Kimberely, Adri Edwards Johnson and husband Anthony and Jeremie Edwards and wife Katie; and ten great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Winifred Edwards Perry; two sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be made to The Winnie Perry Memorial Library, Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 North Main Street, Hutchinson, KS 67501 or Good Shepherd Hospice, 4350 Will Rogers Parkway, Ste. 400, Oklahoma City, OK 73108.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman, Oklahoma 73072.  Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made to www.havenbrookfuneralhome.com
