John Edwards of Stillwater passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family. He was 57. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
John was born January 9, 1963 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Chester Harold and Dorothy Mae (Reed) Edwards. At the age of nine his family moved to Carson, California where he spent his childhood years. While there he enjoyed surfing and skateboarding. He was sponsored by Van Shoe Company during his skateboarding career. He was a model for their shoes and other skateboarding sports line. On September 14, 1985 he married Susan Eileen Flynn in Baytown, Texas.
He worked as a forklift operator most of his life. John enjoyed fishing, golf, working in his garden and yard, and was a phenomenal cook. He could make a mean dish of salsa. One of his dreams were to attend Chef school.
Survivors his wife, Susan of the home; daughter, Ashley Edwards of Stillwater, Ok; three grandchildren, Damien Edwards, Shauna Edwards, and Savannah Edwards all of Stillwater, Ok; father, Chester Edwards of Minnesota; mother and step-father, Dorothy and Dean Undahl of Stillwater, Ok; six siblings, Keith Edwards of Warren Robins, Ga., Chuck Edwards and wife Cathrine of Warren Robins, Ga., Kathy Adams of Sauk Rapids, Mi, Terry Edwards and wife Vicki of Greenville, Tx., Debbie Dilley and husband Ron of Stillwater, Ok., and Don Edwards of Augusta, Ga; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater at 11:00 AM.
