Ernest Leroy Edwards

Ernest Leroy Edwards

Ernie was born the 7th of 9 children on July 3, 1933, to Oliver and Goldie Edwards in Ringwood, Oklahoma.

Ernie was proceeded in death by his parents; 1 son, Ernest; the love of his life Berneta Edwards; 8 siblings; 3 stepdaughters, Debbie Hubert, Karen Webster and Bonnie Owens; and 2 grandsons.

After the depression, his family moved to Canon City, Colorado, where he graduated High School in 1951. Ernie made history as a teenager, walking nearly 30 miles to see the Freedom Train. 

After graduation, Ernie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War and later stationed in Hawaii. Ernie's core passions in life were his love for the Marine Corps, motorcycles and his family.

After being honorably discharged he settled in Wichita, Kansas, where he retired from Boeing Aircraft as a Machinist.

 After retirement, he moved to Enid, Oklahoma, later Roanoke, Texas, and recently ended up in Collinsville, Oklahoma.

Ernie was loved by all who met him and had a contagious smile and such a caring heart.

Ernie is survived by his wife Clauda Edwards of Roanoke, Texas; grandson Bryan Edwards and wife Glendy and their 4 children from Stuart, Florida; 7 stepchildren, Cindy Rogers, Janet Wells, Ronald Willson ll and wife Guyla, Russell Willson and wife Marie, Rick Willson and wife Kathy, Stephen Michael and wife Beverly and Charles Michael and wife Karrie. He also had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Ernie's Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 10:30 am. at Central Assembly Church 1202 W. Oxford Ave., Enid, Oklahoma, 73703. Lunch will follow.
