It is with great sadness that the family of Cindy Edwards announces her passing on February 3, 2018, at the age of 74. She was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, on February 25, 1943, to Mrs. Iva Marie Newell and Dr. Waldo B. Newell, Jr.
She grew up in Enid, Oklahoma, and graduated from Enid High School in 1961. Cindy attended Colorado Women's College, the University of Oklahoma, and Northeastern University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree, and a Dental Hygiene Certificate from Forsyth Dental School in Boston, Massachusetts. She taught Dental Hygiene at Northwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She moved to the Atlanta area in the mid 1970's, where she taught Dental Hygiene at Clayton Junior College.
She eventually became a realtor with Harry Norman Realtors, where she worked for the past sixteen years, until the time of her death.
Cindy was a Tri Delta Sorority alumnus. She was active in her local P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Sisterhood, and was a past President. She was a longtime member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA, and was active in her women's Sunday school class and in the church choir.
Cindy loved her Oklahoma roots, Oklahoma University Sooners, her children, her grandchildren and just about everyone else she encountered. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Seth Warren Morrill and Aria Grace Morrilland. She always had photos to share.
She had the gift of love, joy and caring, and always saw the best in everyone. Even while trying to recover from cancer, she was delivering Meals on Wheels. She loved sharing time with those who were homebound.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Ann-Marie Morrill, her son-in-law, Joshua Morrill, her son, David N. Edwards, her grandchildren, Aria and Seth Morrill, and her brother, Dr. Steven W. Newell.
Cindy had a full life and was grateful. She was a bright shining star during her time on earth, and she will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on what would have been her 75th birthday, February 25, 2018, in the Kellett Chapel at Peachtree Presbyterian Church at 4:00 pm.
