Joann, as she was known by all, was born December 29, 1934 to Roy and Buena (Bea) Haynes in Claremore, OK. She graduated at Oklahoma State Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Education and Business. During her time at OSU, she met Richard Herbert Edsall and they were married on July 31, 1955. She and Richard moved to Cashion, OK in 1957. There she taught 3rd grade as she and Richard began their family. In 1968, they moved to Columbus, OH. There she taught business classes at Mifflin High School. In 1970, they moved and took roots in Englewood, CO where they raised the family into adulthood. After moving to Colorado, Joann decided to start using the business skills she had been teaching and worked for several companies as a secretary and bookkeeper until her retirement.

Joann could be found on any sunny day working in the yard or garden. She was diligent every year to can, juice, and/or preserve any fruit or vegetable she grew or was given. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Denver, CO where she was passionate with the children's ministry.

Joann and Richard moved back to Watonga Oklahoma in 2013 where she continued to garden until she was no longer able to do so due to her aging mind.

Joann was proceeded in death by her husband, Richard, sisters Patricia Hughes, Billie and brother-in-law Robert Stevens.

She is survived by her brother Larry (Sally) Haynes (Paris, TX), brother-in-law Leon Hughes (Claremore, OK), daughters Cindy Sungaila (Parker, CO), Kathy Brown (Mustang, OK), Mary (Richard) Goheen (Greeley, CO) and Nancy (Van) Coffey (Hermitage, TN), and her son Richard (LeighAnne) Edsall Jr. (Hitchcock, OK) with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Joann was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.
