Mary Kathryn (Baldwin) Eck

Mary Kathryn (Baldwin) Eck
November 6, 1939 ~ July 23, 2019

Mary Kathryn Eck passed away on July 23, 2019, in Elk Grove, California, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, surrounded by her three sons.

Mary was born on November 6, 1939, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Myrtle and James Baldwin.

She is survived by her sons Don Eck, Jr. of Elk Grove, Ca; David Eck of Modesto, Ca; Guy Eck (Jeannine) and granddaughters, Erin and Emily of Forestville, Ca; her sister Virginia Sanders of Wichita, Kansas, brother-in-law Joe Marcoux of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Regina (Melvin) Warner of Yukon, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Don Eck, Sr., and her sister Jimsey Marcoux.

Mary and Don were married in 1960 and she later returned to school to pursue a nursing degree, graduating from Stanislaus State College with her BSN. Over their 33-year marriage, Mary and Don lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, and California and enjoyed exploring other states through Mary's job as a traveling nurse until Don's passing in 1993.

Mary was a loving mother and was very proud of her three sons. A devoted grandmother, she took pleasure in having Erin and Emily come on visits, where they would enjoy rock painting, trips to the movies, milkshakes, I Love Lucy, and sharing family history.

Mary loved gardening and was very knowledgeable about many species of flowers and trees. In her later years, she enjoyed watercolors, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint.

Mary received loving care from the staff at Blessed Home for Seniors in Elk Grove and Mercy Hospital Hospice program. The Eck family would like to extend special appreciation to them, especially Pam Hatchett (Hospice), CJ, Choi, James, Maggie, Mel, and Yulee (Blessed Home), as well as Gino Maiolini from Good Shepherd Catholic Church, who brought Communion to Mary weekly for the last 4 years.

Memorial services were held on August 23rd, followed by internment at Turlock Memorial Park, Turlock, Ca. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dignity Health Mercy Hospice, 9912 Business Park Drive, Suite 100, Sacramento, Ca 95827.
