Douglas Walter Ebert was born April 21, 1947 to Walter "Wally" and Janice "Suzy" Ebert in Watertown, WI. He passed away November 24, 2014 in Elk City, OK.
Doug grew up on a dairy farm just outside of Watertown. He graduated from Watertown High School. While in high school he played in a band that traveled all over Wisconsin. After high school he joined the Navy Seabees and served in Vietnam. He was called home due to a family emergency and began running the family dairy. Later he began his education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI. He graduated with a dual degree in transportation and marketing.
He had a love for trains which began as a child, he and his grandmother would watch and listen for them as they went through town. This lead to a brief career with the Chicago/Northwestern which he enjoyed talking about. His love never ended for trains, he would pace them to listen to the engines or get ahead of them to film them at an intersection.
He married Gloria Tessmann of Watertown and was blessed with his first daughter, Jennifer. Later he met and married Sherri Daugherty and they were blessed with his second daughter, Anna. He was very proud of both daughters.
He was proceeded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and his father, Wally.
Survivors include his wife Sherri Daugherty of Elk City, OK, daughters Jennifer Ebert-Moreland and husband, Dean of Denton, TX, Anna Ebert of Elk City, OK, his mother, Suzy Ebert-Zoeller of Watertown, WI, one sister, Janet Hathaway and husband, Brian of Watertown, nieces, Ashley Madson-Wenninger, Monica Madson and nephew, Jeremy Hathaway all of Wisconsin, his former wife, Gloria Ebert of Valley View, TX.
He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown, WI.
Memorials can be made to the Elk City United Methodist Church or the Elk
City High School Vocal Department. Memorials in Watertown, WI may be made to
St. John’s Lutheran School.
