Colonel Eaton had been living in Weatherford, OK when he enlisted and was a member of the 8th Tactical Bomber Squadron, Phan Rang, Thailand.

On January 13, 1969, he was the pilot of a Martin Canberra Bomber (B-57B) on a mission 50 miles southeast of Muong Nong, Savannakhet Province, Laos, when his aircraft was shot down by hostile fire.

His remains were recovered on December 16, 2005 and identified on November 20, 2006.
