Martin Lavon Durham, age 82 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on April 7, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Martin was born on November 7, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Ira and Gertrude Martin.
Martin married Carolyn Nighswonger on October 7, 1980. In 1995 Martin and Carolyn moved to Guthrie from Denver, Colorado.
Martin served in the United States Air Force for ten years and was a Master Sergeant. He later worked as a laborer in the construction industry. He enjoyed gardening, doing all of the things on Carolyn’s honey-do-list, fishing, camping and going to yard sells.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn of the home, son Curtis Durham and wife Paula of Chandler, Texas, son Tracie Durham and wife Mary of Chandler, Texas, daughter Becky Bangert of St. Paul, Minnesota, brother Silas Durham of Midland, Texas, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne Durham, brother Kenny Durham, and brother Coburn Durham.
A private memorial service will be held in Texas at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
