Keith Dunn age 61 of Lexington, OK passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Purcell Municipal Hospital. He was born October 19, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was the 6th child of seven children born to Louis Earl Dunn and Edna Cecil Nugent. Keith grew up in the OKC and Del City area and graduated from Del City High School in 1969.
After high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Keith was honorably discharged in 1972 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
After returning home he met and later married Lula Allen of Del City. They were married on August 10, 1974 in OKC and remained living in the OKC area for a few years. In 1977 they moved to the Purcell area then later to Wayne, OK where they raised their children Jan and Buddy. For the past 14 years they made their home in Lexington. Keith enjoyed working with his hands and for many years he worked as a carpenter.
While in his mid-30’s he went back to school on the GI bill and attended the University of Oklahoma. In 1990 he received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and minored in history. Keith wanted to go to law school following college but suffered a heart attack and was unable to attend any more schooling. However he was able to work five years for world-com before he becoming disabled.
Throughout his life, Keith loved being in the outdoors. When he was younger he loved riding motorcycles and road professional motor-cross for one year. Any time he had a chance, he enjoyed deer hunting, duck hunting, trapping, coon hunting, boating, fishing and camping.
Keith was a member of Grace Chapel Church in Lexington and a lifetime member of the Del City DAV. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father, a loving grandfather and as a special brother and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: Parents: Louis and Edna Dunn, One brother: Bob Dunn,
He is survived by: Wife: Lou Dunn of the home, His children: Jan Plavchak and husband Greg of Purcell, Buddy Dunn and wife Raenee of Lexington, Michael Hooper and son Hunter of Virginia, Two brothers: Jess Dunn and wife Debbie of Choctaw, Jack Dunn and wife Ginger of Del City, Three sisters: Billie Etheridge of Newalla, Edna Reid of OKC, Jan Murray of Del City, Sister-in-law: Melba Dunn of Del City, A special nephew who was like and brother: Bobby Dunn, Four grandchildren: Ethan and Evan Plavchak, Madalyn and Pyper Dunn, Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.
