James Dunn passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 after almost 3 1/2 years of battling multiple types of cancer. He fought a fierce battle and continued to do things he enjoyed and devoted himself to making sure his wife would be okay once his battle was over. He was 67 years old.
He was born in September 1953, in Riverton, Wyoming. His family moved around throughout his childhood. They moved to Alva, Oklahoma where he met his wife Ramona Ashlock. They married in May of 1973. Shortly after their marriage, James joined the Marine Corps. He, his wife, and two children experienced life in many different states from the west coast to the east coast while he served his country. James was medically discharged from the Marine Corps in 1990. He then returned to Oklahoma to attend the University of Central Oklahoma where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Photojournalism.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona, his son Mark and daughter-in-law Stephanie, their children Colton, Jacqueline, Audriannah, Barrett, and Rowdy, his daughter Adena, and son-in-law Brett, their sons, Logan and Maverick. His mother-in-law, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.
A funeral service will be Saturday, February 13th, 2021 at 3pm. The service will be held at Guthrie First Assembly of God, located at 1900 S Division St, Guthrie, OK.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a GoFundMe page “In Memory of James Dunn, (The Picture Man)”. All of the funds raised will be donated to a Veterans organization in his name.
