Funeral services for Emojane Carter Dunegan, age 77, of Wade, who died on October 20, 2008, of stroke complications, will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Wade Baptist Church in Wade with Bro. Charles Williams officiating.
Pallbearers are Chad and Derrick Dunegan, Howard Williams, Wes Singleton, Dallas Ketchup and Trustin Munson.
Jane was born April 26, 1931, to Governor and Bertha Carter of Wade.
She attended Wade and Albany schools.
She eloped her senior year with the love of her life, the late E. P. "Pete" Dunegan in Denison, Texas, on August 28, 1948.
She lived all of her life in the Wade area. She loved being the wife of a farmer and for many years ran the farm while Pete worked in town.
She was an outstanding quilter, expert seamstress and cook extraordinaire, being famous for her cream-style corn, peanut brittle and her peach cobbler.
She was a devoted member and cornerstone of the Wade Baptist Church and an enthusiastic member of the Bryan County Road Runners.
Jane enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, reading and sewing. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but, most of all, she loved being of service to the Lord. She was a wonderful mother, loving wife, doting grandmother, affectionate sister, loyal friend and "Granny Jane" to dozens.
Jane is survived by four sons, Phillip Dunegan and wife Fay of Durant, Fred Dunegan of Bennington, John Dunegan and wife Judy of Calera, Danny Dunegan and wife LaDonna of Sherman, Texas; one daughter, Betty Williams and husband Howard of Wade, and special family members Patty Mink and husband R.D. of Blue. Her sisters include Ruby Grimes of Durant and Marie Gilley of Oklahoma City. She has ten grandchildren: Sheryl Banker and life partner Bob Cross of Hot Springs, Ark., Sharon Dillow and husband Evan of Norman, Emily Kolvitz and husband Shannon of Baton Rouge, La., Trish Singleton and husband Wes of Calera, Trina Dunegan of Mead, Brody Dunegan of Bennington, Derrick Dunegan of Calera, Chad Dunegan and wife Patty of Achille, Matthew Quarles and Leah Quarles of Sherman, Texas. She has six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Granny Jane will be greatly missed by her family, church and community.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you make a donation to the Wade Baptist Church or the Oak Ridge Nursing Home Activity Fund, and spend time with the family and friends that you love and cherish, making every moment count.
Family hour will be from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m today at the Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
