Norma Jean (Bass) Duncan was born February 1, 1941, in Walters, Oklahoma to Oran Lafatte and Billy Vera (Goss) Bass. She passed away on June 10, 2020, at her home near Comanche at the age of 79.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.
Norma graduated from Empire High School in 1959. At the age of 42, she went to Cameron University and graduated in 1991 with honors with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education. She worked for the Empire schools and retired on June 1, 2007. She loved Possum Kingdom Lake where she had a cabin retreat. She enjoyed gardening and always raised a big garden. She could cook poke sallet (AKA polk salad). She always cooked three meals a day. She loved her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents.
Norma is survived by her children: Chris and wife Dotty Duncan of Comanche; Shannon and wife LD Duncan of Marlow; Krishandi and husband Jamie Houck of Byers, Texas; grandchildren: Cody and wife Rachel Womack; Amber Womack; Brittany and husband Dennis Thacker; Cade Duncan; Shea and wife Nikki Duncan; Stormey Duncan; Breanna and husband David Nunez; Hagen Houck; Halle Houck; 10 great grandchildren; and sister Billie Lynn and husband Andy Ledford of Comanche.
