Norma Jean (Armstrong) Duncan, age 84, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Norma was born to Walter and Della Armstrong on August 8, 1931, at Fort Scott, Kansas.
In her younger years, Norma was a bookkeeper at Key Work Clothes in Fort Scott, Kansas. Later, she worked as a bookkeeper for the school district in Emporia, Kansas. Norma and her family were actively involved in organized camping and after retirement, she and Gerald spent their winters in Arizona and enjoyed their summers at their lake home on Lake Kahola in Kansas.
Norma is preceded in death by 2 children, Carolyn Jean Copeland and Mark Duncan.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gerald Duncan and 1 of 3 children, Gary, both living in Edmond, Oklahoma. There are also 5 surviving grandchildren: Rachel Knight of Waverly, Kansas, Rebekah and Grant Duncan of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Michael and Kimberly Duncan of Berryton, Kansas. Additionally, Norma had 3 surviving great-grandchildren: Susanna, Garrison, and Nellie Knight of Waverly, Kansas. She is also survived by her brother, Rev. C.L. Armstrong of Pittsburg, Kansas and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Duncan Edes of Berryton, Kansas.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Saffordville, Kansas. Interment will follow at Hilltop Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
