Billie Lou Duncan was born on November 23, 1931 in Custer City, Oklahoma to William (Bill) and Hazel Winningham. She went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2020.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Erven Duncan, her son Eldon Dale Glenn, Jr., her daughter, Lenora June Glenn and her parents William Paul Winningham and Hazel Olevea Winningham (Miller).
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret and husband Darrin Blaylock of Yukon, OK. Her son Douglas and wife Kelli Duncan of Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by multiple cousins and lifelong friends.
Billie was a social butterfly, who loved being with people. Growing up Billie spent a great deal of time on the family farm. There she rode horses, went to the creek and enjoyed many a shenanigan with her cousins and friends. She met Erven Duncan in Clinton, OK, where dated, feel in love and were later married in Texas. As she grew older, she loved to dance, do needlework and quilt. In her later years she watched old western movies, ate chocolate, played bingo, and bragged on her grandbabies! Family was of upmost importance to Billie; she highly anticipated the bi-annual Miller family reunion where treasured memories were shared and she reconnected with family. The memories of those times provided great amusement at family gatherings and comfort in her later years.
In her early 40’s Billie made a life-changing decision that would leave a legacy of hope and love for future generations. Billie made the decision to trust God and made Jesus her Savior. From this point forward, she faithfully took her children to church and served in a variety of capacities as the Lord provided opportunities. Some of the places she served included: Sunday School teacher, camp sponsor and choir member. Moreover, she encouraged her children to be involved in church attendance and service. As a result of her strong faith and years of prayer, her husband and children were saved. Her love for the Lord never waned and one of her favorite activities at the retirement center was to attend every Bible Study or church service offered. She often said, “denominational titles were not important, but what was important was the Word of God being taught.” Her legacy of faith continues to impact future generations.
When family and friends are asked what they remember most about Billie the unanimous reply was her kindness towards others. Billie will be greatly missed by those she left behind. However, we do not grieve without hope. A celebration of her life will be held at 1301 Brody Court, Yukon, OK. 73099, on Saturday, May 23 at 10:00am. Please bring a lawn chair and a favorite memory/story you have of Billie. Lunch will be served at the same location.
