Cody N. Duling

March 20, 1962 ~ February 16, 2015

Funeral for Coty Duling were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Lawton with the pastor, the Rev. D.D. McHenry, officiating. Services were under direction of Howard-Harris Funeral Services, Lawton.

Coty Norris Duling was born March 20, 1962, in Chicago to Francis and Vincent Duling and died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, in Lawton at the age of 52.

His family moved to Lawton, where he attended Lawton Public Schools Hoover Elementary, and Eisenhower Middle School. He was on the varsity track team in 1976-1977.

He was an all around athlete and loved swimming and diving off the high board as a child. By the time he entered high school, it was all about track, football, swimming, dancing and being a disk jockey. He set many records while attending Eisenhower High School and the University of Oklahoma. He is found in record books with the Oklahoma High Schools for his record in 1980, playing football at Eisenhower High School, where he took the team to a 28-14 victory over Moore. He caught a 34-yard pass to win over Lawton High School in a 21-15 victory. That same year, he won the 100-yard dash at Eisenhower High School. He also ran track at OU and won the medley relay with a time of 3:13.39 in 1981. As a sophomore, he captured first place in the men's invitational and the open men's 60-yard dash with a record time of 6.20. A part of the relay team at OU, he won the event timed at 3:24.7 seconds in 1985. He set a new meet and school record by winning the 300-yard dash timed at 3:1.48 seconds. He went on to claim the 60-yard dash with a time of 6.45 seconds. He was known as Coty D by many.

Having served in the Army, he returned to Lawton and continued his love of music as a DJ.

He is survived by his three children: Patrice Cross, Texas; Domenick Woods, Hollis; and Keyshauna Adams, Ponca City; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Christina Handy, Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers: Bryan Hicks, Memphis, Tenn., and Vincent Duling Jr., California; his stepfather, Roosevelt Gray, Lawton; and many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
