SUSAN KATHERINE DUKES Katherine, a resident of Spencer, Oklahoma for the past 28 years, died peacefully on September 17, 2009, at 91 years of age. She was born on Nov 20, 1917 in Bertrand, MO, to James Henry Gunter and Mamie Lea (Wood) Gunter.
Katherine, known as Grandma to many, gave her heart to her Lord, Jesus, at the age of twelve. She was an example of faith, kindness, patience and generosity. She attended Gospel Tabernacle in Spencer. Due to her love for children, she served in the church nursery, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and in the private school assisting with test grading and monitoring.
Katherine is preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Ann Kanaly of Okla City, OK, and her son, Nelson Allan Dukes of Dexter, MO.
She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Lurton O. Dukes (age 94) of Spencer, OK, her children, Patricia E. Moore of Rosebud, MO, H. Faye Dukes of Chafee, MO, J. David Dukes of Austin, TX, Oron D. Dukes of Dexter, MO, Morris D. Dukes of Granada Hills, CA and Linda S. Penny of Albuquerque, NM.
She was deeply loved by her 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
