Funeral services for Fred Duke, a longtime Atoka area resident, were held Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Pastor James Bokovoy officiating and music by Gaylon Lewis. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Duke was born October 24, 1916 to Samuel Roger and Nellie Kathryn (Glenn) Duke, at Winters, TX adn passed away June 2, 2011 in Durant, OK at the age of 94. He attended Grapevine Schools and was a truck driver, a farmer/rancher and a member of Teamsters 745 Dallas. He retired in 9169. Fred married Beatrice Iva (Tomlinson) on September 21, 1956 at Atoka, OK. She preceded him death in 1987. He married Clovis Lavada (Belvin) on September 24, 1988 in Coal County, OK. Fred was a member of the Coalgate Seventh Day Adventist and Teamsters local union #745.
Survivors include his wife, Lavada Duke of the home in Atoka; step-children, Delores Lewis and husband Gaylon of Stratford, Pamela Cole and husband Terry of Coalgate, james Frazier and wife Vickie of Coalgate, Joni Gonzalez of Purcell, Rebecca Pickens and husband Eugene of Coalgate, William Frazier and wife Shelia of Wardville and Lucinda Kuykendall and husband Billy of Cartwright, OK; nieces, Frankie Jean Milner and husband George of Dallas, TX, Judy Herriman and husband John of Leominster, MA; nephew, Bobby Lee Duke and wife Emma of Bartonville, TX; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Beatrice Iva Tomlinson Duke; brothers, James Roger Duke and Albert Lee Duke; sisters, Mildred Mary Forshee and Opal Pauline McPhail; nephews, Jeremy Glen McPhail, Jimmy McPhail and J. R. Duke; niece, Beverly (Burns) Evans and Step-child, Carolyn Hall-Ned.
Casketbearers were James Frazier, Terry Cole, Ricky Tomlinson, Dante Belvin, Ray Valadez, and Billy Kuykendall. Honorary bearers were Robert Calvert and Melvin Ishmael.
