Stan Duggins 68 year old Sharon resident, died Sunday, October 27, 2013 in Woodward. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with pastor and lifelong friend Gene Darr officiating.
Stanley Gene Duggins was born on December 19, 1944 in Seminole to George Duggins II and Jean(Stanfill) Duggins. As a young child Stan was raised with his younger brother Mike by their Grandparents on their 80 acres southeast of Seminole. Their grandparents taught them the values of life , loving God and each other , hunting, fishing and the rewards of hard work.
Stan attended Bowlegs and Seminole schools, and met the love of his life Mary Lou Morris through a mutual friend Richard Darr. They were united in marriage on June 27, 1962 in Seminole at the First Christian Church. He began welding like his dad and grandad, but soon realized his true calling was working on engines.
Stan started his mechanics career at Hopeman Equipment in Seminole, the Waukesha dealer, working his way up from sweeping the floors. Stan went on to work for several companies. He worked on everything from natural gas and diesel engines to generators and gas compressors from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada. His expertise were on White Superior Engines, he was a field representative for them in the 1970's.
Stan and Mary Lou built a very successful business in Brighton, Colorado in 1976. They sold the business in 1985 and he retired at the age of 42. Retirement was short lived for Stan and Mary Lou. They moved to California and obtained their real estate license. They soon realized that the fast pace was not for them moving to Woodward in 1990 where he had family and many friends. Stan knew this was home. Anytime somebody complained of the wind he replied “there’s not any smog in it”.
He opened Woodward Magneto Service and was back to working . He later worked for Hanover Compression as supervisor until his wife needed him closer to home. He worked for local oil companies as a pumper until his health would no longer allow it.
His biggest joy in life was his wife Mary Lou of 52 years and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Stan was a 32nd degree mason. He taught himself to play the guitar at the age of five and was very talented. He enjoyed it and about any other musical instrument very much. He also liked to fish and travel. He loved life and family get togethers, especially the food.
Stan is survived by his wife Mary Lou of Sharon; brother, Mike Duggins of Flagler beach, Florida; daughter, Mary Kilsch of Salina, Kansas; daughter Lori Duggins of Woodward; son, Dick and wife Kim Duggins of Woodward; four grandchildren, Paul Kilsch and wife Kendree of Rogers, Arkansas; Joshua Kilsch and wife Andi of Salina, Kansas; Heather Duggins of Woodward and Robert Duggins of Woodward also five great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Vina Duggins , His parents George II and Jean Adams and one brother Ronnie Adams.
