Warren Ellwood Drumheller, Jr, 89, of Arpelar, died Friday, February 27, 2015 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Robert B Thomas, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1098 with Rev. O.C. Hawkins officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
Warren Ellwood Drumheller, Jr. was born July 24, 1925 in New York City, NY to Warren Henry Drumheller, Sr. and Pearl (Gauger) Drumheller and was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Jeremiah Johnson, an armed guard Liberty Ship.
Following his honorable service, Warren married Pauline Stevens in 1946 in California. To this union, two children, Marie Hazel and Kenneth Wayne, were born. Pauline preceded Warren in death in 1992 and in 1993, Warren moved to Oklahoma. On December 19, 1994, he married Easter Effinger Cozad Lewis. She preceded him in death in 2009.
Warren was a proud World War II Veteran and was able to participate in the World War II Honor Flights program in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the VFW Post #1098 Honor Guard, a member of the Hartshorne VFW Post #3085 where he served as Commander for several years. He also served as VFW All-State Commander for five consecutive years, National Aide-de-Camp for two years, was a member of the American Legion, as well as the Fleet Reserve, DAV, DAVA, Moose Lodge, Masonic Lodge, F.O.P. where he served as President for twelve years, and was also a member of the Haywood-Arpelar Volunteer Fire Department.
Warren is survived by his children: Marie Hazel (Drumheller) Grogan Chambless and husband, Cash of McAlester, Kenneth Wayne Drumheller and wife, Karen of Las Vegas, Nevada; step-children: Nancy Denny and husband, Bob of Griffith, Indiana, LaQuetta McCartor and husband, Gerry of Oklahoma City, Tammy Cato and husband, Leon of Oklahoma City, Iva Lela Turman and husband, Timothy of McAlester, E. Marie Hansen and husband, James, II of McAlester; brothers: Leonard Drumheller and wife, Lucy of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Robert Drumheller and wife, Mary of Gainesville, Florida; sister: Florence Martino of Cape May Court House, NJ.
Also, grandchildren: Ann Waddle and husband, Jim of McAlester, James Scott Grogan and wife, Lisa of Kernersville, North Carolina, Robert Denny, II of Griffith, Indiana, Nime Nancy Aguru of Oklahoma City, Iris Lane Montross of McAlester, Gabrielle Cato of McAlester, Amanda Pettigrew of Oklahoma City, Jeremiah Cato of Oklahoma City, Logan Denny of Griffith, Indiana, Alexzandria McCartor of Oklahoma City, Aaryn-Athiel Turman of McAlester, Icia-Emily McCartor of Oklahoma City, Brian Drumheller and wife, Elizabeth of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Angela Drumheller of Las Vegas, Nevada, Christopher Drumheller of Las Vegas, Nevada, Charles Waddle and wife, Terri of McLoud.
And, great-grandchildren: Trinity Denny of Griffith, Indiana, Xavior Cato of Oklahoma City, Kayden Cato of Oklahoma City, Jayden Humphries of Oklahoma City, Auzzadah Cato of Oklahoma City, John Daniel Patty and wife, Alycia of Kiowa, Timothy Wayne Patty of McAlester, Chris Bord and wife, Kelsey of Sand Diego, California, Sean McCarthy of Kernersville, North Carolina, Ryan McCarthy of Kernersville, North Carolina, Magan Grogan of Kernersville, North Carolina; and great-great-grandchildren: Michael Patty of Kiowa, Samuel Patty of Kiowa, and Korina Waddle of McAlester.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Warren Henry Drumheller, Sr. and Pearl (Gauger) Drumheller; his first wife: Pauline Stevens Drumheller; his second wife: Easter Effinger Cozad Lewis Drumheller; brothers: Richard, Kenneth, Gordon and Russell Drumheller; and sister: Ruth Drumheller Gauger Stevens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cash Chambless, Jay Hansen, Tim Turman, Gerry McCartor, Scott Grogan, Jim Waddle, Jeremy Nelson, George Cotton, Jeff Harris, Darrell Cozad, John Patty, and Tim Patty.
