Mary Maxine (Goodman) Dragoo

Mary Maxine (Goodman) Dragoo
December 13, 1938 ~ February 12, 2023

Mary Dragoo age 84 of Norman passed away on February 12, 2023. Mary Maxine Goodman was born to Henry Goodman and Maude Goodman (McCollum) on December 13, 1938 in Eldrado, Kansas. She grew up in Kansas and graduated from Wichita High School with the Blue Aces Class of 1956.

Mary then quickly joined the United States Army and was stationed in France and Germany. She left the service in 1958 and headed back to the states with her husband whom she met overseas. They settled for a time in Ardmore then moved all over the country to where ever the Army stationed Calvin next.

Mary was blessed with five children and cherished being a mother. She attended the Lloyd Noble Foundation vocational institute and earned her certification as an LPN in 1976. Mary then worked in area hospitals and nursing homes, including Sulphur, Lexington, and Purcell. She proudly worked at Purcell Nursing home for 20 years and enjoyed caring for the residents there. When Mary wasn’t working, she could be found in the garden. She had a green thumb and loved planting flowers and curating a vast collection of garden gnomes proudly displayed throughout the landscape. Mary had a kind heart and a soft spot for animals. She loved watching vet shows on TV and always put out food for stray animals in the neighborhood. She was a beloved mother and grandmother who led a long and fruitful life.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Dragoo, her siblings, and her Aunt Ruth and Uncle Oscar.

She is survived by her children, Raymond Dragoo of Norman, Calvin Dragoo of Norman, Ella Love of Ardmore, Johnny Dragoo, Mary Webb and husband Richard of Decatur, Illinois. She also leaves behind 10 grandkids, and 28 great grandkids.
