Mary Jane Downing

Mary Jane Downing
September 21, 1931 ~ August 21, 2019

Mary Jane Downing was born September 21, 1931, to Rose and Wright Downing in Marshall, OK. She attended Douglas Public Schools where she played basketball and was named All State Guard. She attended nursing school. She graduated in 1953 and soon after accepted a position at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City. She remained there until her retirement in 1991. After retirement she moved to Enid, OK, to be near family. She passed away August 21, 2019, at Garland Road Nursing Home.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Rose and Wright Downing, of Dougas; her sister Dorothy, brother John and nephew, all of Enid. She is survived by one niece, Vicky Sugg, of Enid, and one nephew Jason Bingham.

In lieu of a funeral there will be a Celebration of Life in her honor from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Christian Church of the Covenant, 1205 S. Cleveland. All are welcome to attend. Lunch will be served. Those attending can wear purple in her honor and are being asked to bring a memory of Jane to share.
