George Thomas Douglass

April 07, 1936 ~ September 03, 2020

George Thomas Douglass died peacefully on September 3, 2020 at the age of 84, surrounded by members of his family. He was born April 7, 1936 at Mullinville, KS. to George B. and Helen (Thackrey) Douglass. He was blessed to grow up in a loving and supportive family and in what he considered to be the best little town in Kansas.

After graduating from High School he worked his way through college at Wichita University. He voluntarily interrupted his education to serve for two years in the Army and then returned to W.U. to graduate. It was while he was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK. that he met the love of his life, Nadine Crawford. They were married on September 8, 1962.

For several years George was an Industrial Arts teacher in Kansas City, KS. and Priest River, ID. He gave up his teaching career to go into business for himself, as a dealer in high-quality collectible firearms. His extraordinary knowledge of his subject and his unquestioned integrity enabled him to develop a very successful business, which flourished until poor health forced him to retire.

George was a devout Christian and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered by many for his generosity. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and he gave willingly of his time, talents and treasure.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Nadine Douglass of Shattuck, OK.; three daughters, Helen of Tulsa, OK., Mary Jane (David) Lednum of Wasilla, AK. and Nancy (Scott) Bonine of Gothenberg, NE.; six grandchildren and one brother, Roger of Fairport, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in care of Shaw Funeral Home, P.O. Box 276, Vici, OK 73859.
