Clyde Boyd Donaldson, age 91, of Edmond, passed away on December 29, 2025.
Born in 1934 in Waco, Texas, Boyd lived a life marked by friendliness and kindness with an easygoing spirit and a sparkle in his bright blue eyes. Every stranger was a friend he hadn't met yet. He served in the US Navy, US Civil Service, and the private sector, and he worked in fields ranging from electronics to accounting. Even after retiring, he continued to work well into his eighties as a substitute teacher, golf pro shop manager, horse show judge, and a worship music leader.
Outside of work, Boyd enjoyed skiing, playing golf, traveling, watching westerns, and riding his horses. He had a special fondness for chicken wings, Braum's chocolate almond ice cream, the Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. An avid musician, he played the trombone, dabbled at the guitar, and was known for often whistling, singing or humming a tune. O Holy Night frequently found its way into his playlist, even in the summer. Some of his favorite adventures came from his years spent touring with the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma. He enjoyed singing all over the world, with one of his favorite concerts being the Sydney Opera House.
Boyd treasured his family of origin and his family by marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Marie and his brother Carrell. He is survived by his loving wife Patti and much-loved blended family of Russell and Jana Donaldson, Beth Clayton, Kathy and Shea Rampey, Carol and Craig Hardin, Jacki and Tim Travers, Jason and Christine Pearse, 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Boyd will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by those who were fortunate to call him family or friend. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma.
