Ricky Joe Dismuke, 56, passed away on June 25, 2018, at his home in Duncan. He was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on July 14, 1961, to Roy Glenn and Phyllis Diana (Branch) Dismuke.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, June 28, at 6:00 P.M. at Eastside Church of Christ with Ron Stough, minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Ricky attended Empire schools and graduated from Empire High School in 1980. While in high school, he played all sports and was a member of FFA, showing cattle and hogs. He was awarded a full scholarship to play football at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. He graduated from SEOSU in 1984 with a Bachelor's degree in History Education and a minor in Safety.
He married Scarlett Ruby Bunch in February, 1989, in Duncan. They had two sons, Roy Dylan and Mason Dalton. They later divorced.
Ricky worked for Dismuke Water Well Drilling and later purchased the business from his family. He worked his business for 33 years until his health began to fail; his son, Dylan, took over the business. Ricky enjoyed quail and deer hunting. He coached his sons in youth athletics and loved watching them play in Duncan sports.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Glenn Dismuke; and his grandparents, Steve and Willie Branch and Charlie and Thelma Dismuke.
Ricky is survived by his sons, Dylan Dismuke and his special friend, Emily Wilkinson, and Dalton Dismuke, all of Duncan; mother, Phyllis Dismuke of Duncan; sisters, Brenda and husband Jim Franklin, of Edmond, and Cindy Dismuke, of Duncan; aunts, Kathy and husband Joe Henson and Frankie Jones of Willis, Texas; uncle, Leemon and wife Darla Dismuke, of Duncan; niece, Kaitlin and husband Mitch Allen; nephew, Christian Franklin; and numerous cousins, including Robyn and husband Art Foster of Marlow.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Empire HS graduating class of 1980, special friends – Tim Edmondson and Jim Bell, and special college friends from SEOSU.
Memorial contributions can be made in Ricky's name to the Duncan High School Athletic Department, PO Box 1548, Duncan, OK 73533.
