Alpha A. Cooper DeWitt was born on June 29, 1914, in rural Pawnee County, Oklahoma to Tessie Becraft and James Washington Cooper.
She passed from this life on Friday, October 31, 2008 in Stillwater having reached the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 3 days.
She was a lifetime resident of Pawnee county, and on March 27, 1936 she married Okel Ray DeWitt in Chandler. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1975.
Alpha is survived by her son, Gary Ray DeWitt of Maramec; daughter-in-law, Darlene DeWitt of Maramec; grandson, Gary Cooper DeWitt and his wife, Winnie of Bentonville, Arkansas; great grandson, Aaron DeWitt of Bentonville, Arkansas; great granddaughter, Madeline DeWitt of Bentonville, Arkansas; nephew, Charles Cooper and his wife, Shirley, of Stillwater; plus a number of other relatives and many friends.
Besides her husband, Okel, she was preceded in death by her parents, James and Tessie Cooper and two brothers, Charles and Clarence Cooper.
Memorials may be made to Judith Karman Hospice, P. O. Box 818, Stillwater, Oklahoma, 74076.
No services have been planned. Visitation will be held today from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Home in Pawnee.
