Durant, OK- Gregory DeSilva Jr. was born Monday, June 12, 1944 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Gregory DeSilva Sr. and Ruth Josephine (Soares) DeSilva. Greg passed from this life on Monday, January 13, 2025 in Denison, Texas at the age of 80.

Greg was raised and grew up in Santa Clara, California where he excelled in football and wrestling. Greg served in the United States Navy. He married Janice Booth on May 31, 1962 in Reno, Nevada, and were together over 62 years. Greg and Janice came to Durant in 1975. He was employed as a journeyman machinist most of his working career.

Greg enjoyed being on the golf course and at any fishing pond. He loved watching all Westerns on television and going to the Choctaw casino. Greg also had a knack for gardening his asparagus. Greg and Janice are members of Saint John’s Episcopal Church. Greg was a member of the Durant Elks Lodge.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Sylvia Ardino and Audrey DeSilva.

He is survived by his wife, Janice of the Durant home; daughter, Jill Stackel and husband, Scott of Las Vegas, Nevada; a son, Jeff DeSilva and his wife, Lorrie of Durant; grandchildren Jennifer Gonzales and husband, Miguel, with their sons Benjamin and Christopher, Robert Dixon II and wife Sunshine, Spencer Stackel, Jeff DeSilva Jr. and wife Ollie, and daughters Emmie, Alissa, and Jolene, Kevin DeSilva and his children Charliegh, Chloe, and Elliot, Daisy DeSilva and her son Mason.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 20, at Saint John’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Gloria Walters presiding.
