Carl Dean Denton

Carl Dean Denton
September 17, 1929 ~ February 12, 2017

Carl Dean Denton, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away surrounded by his family, Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his home. He was 87 years of age. Carl was born September 17, 1929 in Yale, Oklahoma to the late George Ralph and Ruby Willow (Bowen) Denton.

He served his country in the United States Navy and received an Honorable Discharge in May of 1954. Carl married Peggy Virginia Adair on November 27, 1952 in Stilwell. He taught Diesel Mechanic at OSU Tech for 17 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee, Masonic Lodge 199 of Okmulgee and the Morris Lions Club. He loved riding his motorcycles and boating.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Denton, Sr., siblings, George W. Denton, Raymond "Scotty" Denton, Lena Corralia Ray, Lillie Francis Maxey, Ola Mae Slaughter and Harry Denton.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Peggy Denton, of the home, a daughter, Carla Diane Wyatt and husband Rick of Okmulgee, daughter-in- law, Sherry Denton Collins and Darel, grandchildren, John Wyatt and wife Christi, Michael Denton, Jr. and wife Ashleigh, Allison Gilliland and husband Richard III, Julia Riker and husband Joshua, and Joy Chatys and husband Artur, Daniel Gresham and Kelsey, and great-grandchildren, Skyley, Kayleigh, Elizabeth, Benson, Addyson, Kadis, Lincoln, Ethan, Andrew, and Elias. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him very much.

Arrangements were entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
