In loving memory of Philip Lee DeLong of Gore - Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great-grandfather - who passed away in Dewey, Oklahoma, on May 30, 2021, at age 81. He was born to Felix and Ruby (Cherry) DeLong in Houston, Texas, on May 12, 1940.
Philip joined the U.S. Marine Corps in June of 1957, and proudly served his country until December of 1976. During his time in the military Philip saw numerous places and countries. He served two stints in Vietnam, each approximately 13 months. After he retired from the Marines, Philip owned and managed a gas station, as well as managing and maintaining apartments along with his wife. They worked side by side for 25 years. In his free time, Philip loved building and flying remote control airplanes. Philip also enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and fishing.
Philip is survived by his wife Sharon of 39 years; his brother David and wife Vonda; five daughters Sherry and husband Mike, Donna, Kristine, Kimberly and Kelly; seven grandchildren Mia, Philip, Michael, Robert, Eric, Brandon and Audrianna; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Philip was preceded in death by his father Felix DeLong in 1989 and his mother Ruby Fincher in 2007.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Gore United Methodist Church. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
