Norma Jean DeHerrera of Perry passed from this life on December 8, 2014, at the age of 81. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry and will be held on a later date.
Norma was born August 30, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Sidney and Josephine (Velden) Holt. Norma attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa for two and one-half years.
She was employed as a high school librarian for the Braman, Oklahoma Public Schools prior to moving to Perry in 1980.
Norma enjoyed crocheting, fishing, camping, cooking and playing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by five sons, Larry DeHerrera and his wife Joyce and Peter DeHerrera and his wife, Marie, all of Waco, Texas, Alexander DeHerrera of Florida, Daniel DeHerrera, and Ralph Waters Jr., both of Missouri, and Michael Waters and wife Amy of Stillwater; two daughters, Linda Ryan and husband Tom of Perry, and Denise Waters of Missouri; 10 siblings, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers, one son, John DeHerrera; her ex-husband, Tony DeHerrera; and other family members.
Those who prefer to give memorials are respectfully asked to choose charities benefiting children. Memorials may be taken to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 203 E. Fir, Perry, OK or mailed to P.O. Box 189, Perry, OK 73077.
