Lewis Newman Deeds, 82-year-old resident of Higgins, TX, passed from this life on March 16, 2017 in Canadian, TX. Lewis was born November 22, 1934 to Trulyn and Mayrene Deeds in Booker, TX. He grew up in the Follet, TX area graduating from Booker High School.
On September 24, 1993 Lewis married Rama Boughan. They made their home in Higgins, TX, where he worked as a rancher. He also worked for Lipscomb County from 1985 to 2002. After retiring from Lipscomb County, he was elected county commissioner for Lipscomb County for one term. Lewis was baptized at a young age and was a member of the Baptist church in Booker, TX. He attended the Church of the Nazarene in Higgins, TX. Lewis enjoyed square dancing, watching and attending rodeos, going to Red River, working cattle with his sons and anything involving his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to the donut shop for coffee. He was a member of the Red Carpet Square Dance Club. Lewis was a good caretaker and always wanted to help others. He was a quiet person. Although he didn�t have much to say, he never met a stranger and was loved by all.
Lewis is preceded in death by his parents Trulyn and Mayrene Deeds.
He is survived by his wife of the home Rama Deeds; children Roy Deeds and wife Debbie of Gruver, TX, Desley Deeds of Booker, TX, Ray Eeds and wife Nancy of Elk City, OK and Gay Harnois of Clinton, OK; one brother Gene Deeds and wife Sis of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren Kyle and Alice Deeds of Amarillo, TX, Brian and Krystle Haggard of Amarillo, TX, Matthew and Kari Jo Podany of Norman, OK, Colby and Josi Hager of Enid, OK and Gina Harnois of Clinton, OK; great-grandchildren Sage, Cinch and Kyra Deeds, Reese and Trulyn Haggard, Beckett and Baker Podany and baby Hager; many more nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to the Higgins EMT in care of Shaw Funeral Home.
