Pamela “Pam” Jane Dean, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 in Tulsa, Ok at the age of 69. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing, Ok.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.
Pam was born on May 12, 1951 in Frankfurt, Germany to Lawrence Lee and Maxine (Pack) Turner. Pam grew up in Merino, Colorado graduating in 1969 from Merino High School then attended North Eastern Jr. College in Sterling, Colorado and then to Adams State in Alamosa Colorado, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. Pam and her parents moved to Cushing in 1974 where she made her home. Pam worked in the Laboratory for ODOT for 37 years, making lifelong friends throughout the years. She enjoyed playing softball, riding horses and being with family.
Pam is survived by her son: Shane Dean of Tulsa, daughter: Danielle “Dani” Dean Davis and husband Mark of Claremore, Ok., brother Michael “Mike” Turner and wife Mina of Cushing, Ok., grandchildren Michaela Stanton and husband Mike, Jeremy Cox and wife Amy, great grandchildren Brody Stanton and Alexander, nephews Tracy Turner and John Turner.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hank J. Dean, her parents and her brother Ronnie Lee Pack.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cushing, OK with Reverend Larry Lehr officiating.
The son of the late Jess Willard Dean and Marjorie Olean (Herren) Dean, Hank was born on August 1, 1940 in Bartlesville, OK. As a 6th grader he moved with his family from Matfield Green, KS to Drumright where he graduated high school with the class of 1958. Following high school and a short time in college, Hank began working with the pipelines. He was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 25 and received his honorable discharge 2 years later. He returned to Drumright where he began working with the pipelines again and eventually worked at Dalton Precision in Cushing. This is where he met the love of his life, Pam Turner, and they were married on February 5, 1977 in Cushing. Pam and Hank made their home in Cushing and shortly after their marriage Hank began working for Mercury Marine in Stillwater. He retired from there on August 1, 2002 as a maintenance mechanic.
Hank loved to sing and play the guitar and was a member of a local band “Hank Dean & The Pipeliners.” Anyone who knew Hank, knew he had a heart of gold and that he never met a stranger. He was constantly performing, whether it was at the house or at the Cushing Community Theater where he was a charter member. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cheering on his beloved Oklahoma Sooners.
Survivors include his wife Pam of the home; one daughter, Danielle Dean-Cox of Wagoner; one son, Shane Dean of Cushing; one brother, Jess Herren Dean and his wife Kathy of Matfield Green, KS; two grandchildren, Michaela Cox and Jeremy Cox; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is also survived by many friends whom he was proud to call “Family.”
In addition to his parents, Hank was preceded in death by one sister, Paulette.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to the Cushing Humane Society, 609 North Cleveland, Cushing, OK 74023.
