Sophia G. Day, 91, of Bartlesville, OK and formerly of Rantoul, KS passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville, OK.
She was born in 1926 in Kansas City, KS the daughter of George and Draga (Kristanich) Dragieff. She grew up and attended schools at West Valley near Rantoul, KS.
Sophia was united in marriage to Richard H. Day on March 6, 1943 in Ottawa, KS. They lived in the Rantoul area until 1955 when the moved to Wann, OK. They shared over 59 years before the death of her husband on April 1, 2002.
Sophia was a lifelong homemaker raising five children and a granddaughter; she enjoyed working with her husband in the oil fields, going hunting and working cattle. She also enjoyed blue grass concerts, and maintaining the household.
Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; a son, Charles Day; brother, Pete Dragieff and; a sister, Virginia Exeksgrom.
She is survived by a son, Richard Day and his wife Betty of Wann, OK; three daughters, Linda Sabatino of Panama City, FL; Nancy Stark and her husband Bill of Hughesville, MD, and Jannette Brown of South Coffeyville, OK; a brother, Jacob Dragieff and his wife Sue of Olathe, KS; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
To celebrate Sophia's life a graveside service and interment will be held 1:00p.m., Monday, February 6, 2017 at Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, KS.
