Hazel LaJuan Bryant Dawes was born on June 1st, 1938, in Carrolton TX, to Frank Bryant and Hazel Boker Bryant. She passed from this life on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
LaJuan is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Hazel Bryant, brothers and sisters Mildred Childress, Leslie Bryant, Molly Bryant, Jess Bryant, Loyd Bryant, J.E. Bryant, Rose Holley, Herman Bryant, and Onia Vaughan.
LaJuan is survived by her sons Donald Dawes and wife Bonnie and Ricky Dawes and wife Tammy, sisters Ethel Graves, Anita Smith, and Frankie Coats, grandkids Brian Henckel and wife Ashley, Tawni Remington and husband Kevin, Ricky Dawes Jr. and wife Mandy, LaDonna Dawes, Trent Dawes and wife Kacie great grandchildren Alex Remington, Kevin Remington, Cayley Dawes, Megan Henckel, Jillian Remington, Gracie Dawes, Aaron Henckel, Kaden Guest, Wyatt Dawes, Matthew Dawes, Kaleb Dawes, Avery Dawes, Timothy Guest, Tyler Dawes, Kyrie Henckel, Olivia Henckel, and Ahnna Henckel, great great grandchildren Ryder Remington, Lilyan-Mae Walsh, Delilah-Rae Walsh, Kingston Dawes, and Wrenley Remington.
LaJuan was a prayer warrior and named after mom due to that fact. LaJuan was single mom living in Jennings, OK with her two sons when the city turned off her water once and she told them "She would own that town" and she almost succeeded in doing so. She married Ralph Dawes in 1964, he adopted her two sons Donald and Ricky. They built together a tank truck service and also ventured into oil wells. Ralph passed in 1978 and LaJuan continued her entrepreneurship and owned one of the first convenient stores and laundry mats in the area. She eventually owned and started a restaurant in the very building where R&D meats is now. She was always a caregiver to her brother and sisters in need and would open her home to them when they were ill. LaJuan was a long-time devoted member of the Jennings Assembly of God Church and was instrumental bringing the Wright family to pastor the Church. She loved her sons and grandchildren and always hosted family events and loved cooking mountains of food for everyone. She was a person that loved to be always surrounded by her family.
