Roy moved around often through his childhood with his father being a Preacher. Roy followed in his father's steps by serving as a pastor and working in law enforcement. Roy earned his associates degree from Ranger Jr. College. He attended Tennessee Temple where he studied music. In Tennessee, Roy met his "brother" Heavy Montgomery. After College, Roy served as a police officer with several different communities including as a constable with his father in Harris County. After his time serving, he worked security for Texas Instruments, Raytheon and Frito Lay. He retired from Frito Lay after 20 years. Roy was passionate about his spiritual duties, riding motorcycles, singing along at live performances, and doting on his grandchildren and dog. Roy could be seen at all the Toys for Tots events in North Texas with Linda, making sure that all children could participate in the Joy and Love of the holiday season.
Roy will always be remembered for his big, friendly laugh that could light up a room. His sense of humor helped everyone feel welcome. Roy was truly an inspiration to us all as he fought though many different illnesses in his last years of life, and he never let it dim his smile or cool his handshakes.
Services will be lead by Roger Spears of Kemp Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Bryan Ewing, Joe Hammers, David Bemiss, David Maples, Pat Robinson, and Donald Coonard.
