Roberta was born October 31, 1942 in Cherokee, Oklahoma and passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the age of 77 in Enid, Oklahoma after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Helena. Roberta's parents were Keith and Helen Buck Norton, and she was raised on the family farm east of Carmen with older brother, Dean and younger sister, Flora Mae. After graduating from Helena High School with the Class of 1961, she married the love of her life, Leon Davis, in Helena on September 2, 1961. After a honeymoon to McWillie, they lived in Stillwater while Leon finished college. Their daughter, Karyn Louise, was born in Stillwater in 1963 and their son, Bryan Kenneth, was born in Bartlesville in 1966. They eventually moved back to Helena in 1977.
Roberta was a hard-worker and active in her community. She retired from James Crabtree Correctional Center as administrative assistant to the Health Services Administrator. She actively participated in the First Christian Church of Helena, the Helena High School Alumni and the Quilt Club of Cherokee. She was also active in Eastern Star Chapters of Helena and Cherokee, where she was Worthy Matron for several years, and she was a founding member of the Helena Historical Society. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Keith and Helen Norton and brother, Dean.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Leon of The Commons; daughter, Karyn Gigoux and husband, Brian of Carrier; son, Bryan Davis and wife, Stephanie of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons, about whom she loved to brag, Cameron Davis and Logan Davis of San Antonio, Texas and Austin Gigoux and his wife, Taylor of Stillwater; her sister, Flora Mae Roszel and husband, Doug of Skiatook; sister-in-law, Lucille McFarland and husband, Darrel of Enid; a special cousin, Rose Mary McFall of Alva; a niece and nephew she treated as her kids, Laura Girty of Enid and Keith Norton of Carmen and many other family and friends.
Memorials may be made to Helena Historical Society or the First Christian Church of Helena in Leon and Roberta's names through the funeral home.
