Funeral Services for Joan Wade Davis, age 82, of Stilwell, Oklahoma, will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Boston Ave. Methodist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Joan Wade Davis was born November 9, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John Taylor and Grace (Keller) Wade and passed away at her home in Stilwell, Oklahoma on January 19. 2015
Joan grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Rogers High School where her father was the principal and her mother taught school. Joan married Kenneth Davis on March 5, 1960. Together they raised three children Dorothy, Dawson and Dana. Joan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. Joan loved the outdoors. She was an avid fly fisherman and an award winning rifleman. She and Kenneth spent time in Mexico salt water fishing. They traveled many places where they went white water rafting and many other adventurous things. She enjoyed the ranch and all kinds of animals. Joan worked as a recruiter for Job Corps of America. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Joan is survived by her children; Dorothy and husband Glen Foster of Fort Collins, CO, Dawson and wife Lela Davis of Moody, OK and Dana Davis of Tahlequah, OK and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, and one sister.
Memorials may be made to the Fairview First United Methodist Church, with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian.
