James Joe "Jimmy" Davis
November 18, 1949 ~ March 17, 2024

James "Jimmy" Joe Davis, 74, of Coalgate, Oklahoma, passed on March 17, 2024, at Coalgate. Jimmy was born to Joe Dean and Zona Faye Davis on November 18, 1949, in Bakersfield, California. He graduated from Olney High School in 1968. After he graduated, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.

He married Charlene Stanford on July 19, 1968, before he shipped out. Jimmy received an Honorable Discharge from service on August 30, 1968, due to medical issues.

Jimmy had many professions in his lifetime. He delivered propane, was a mechanic at the Wrangler plant in Coalgate, he was an employee of Phillips Haney Lumber for many years. Along with his longtime friend, Jerry Yarbrough, on their off days were all around handymen.

Jimmy later married Nancy Holder on June 12, 2009, at Coalgate, Oklahoma.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Dean Davis on March 3, 1971, Zona Faye Davis on February 17, 2011, sister Barbara Faye Eastman on April 21, 2003, and brother-in-law Clayton Davidson.

Jimmy is survived by his children, JoAnna Burnett and husband Glenn of Atoka, Jerry Davis and wife Lori of Coalgate, and James Edward Davis of the home in Coalgate. He had two chosen daughters, Amanda Pitts and husband James of McAlester, and Amanda Freas of Bromide, his sister Susie Davidson of Clarita, and David Davis and wife Sarah of Durant. Grandchildren, Zayne, Zachary and Morgan Davis of Coalgate, Trevor Robson and Tori Plunkett of Coalgate, and Lexie Pitts of McAlester. Jimmy is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.

He enjoyed reading, listening to music, fishing, and long road trips. He would tell you the best burgers in the world could be found at a hole in the wall café in Quinton, Oklahoma.

Honorary Pallbearers are Greg Peters, Eddie Roebuck, Wayne Tomlinson, Buddy Cottrell, Larry McCollum, Arthur DePasse, Raymond DePasse, Earl DePasse, and Glen Haney

Services will be held Friday, March 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate.
