William Robert "Bill" Davidson III

May 16, 1938 ~ November 17, 2016

William Robert "Bill" Davidson III, 78, of Chandler, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on November 17, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Bill, affectionately known as "Wolfe," was born May 16, 1938 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to the late William R. Davidson II and Edith Reiter.

Bill graduated from Downingtown High School in 1956 and then enlisted with the United States Marine Corps where he was an electronics technician and played End on the Marine Corps football team.

Following his honorable discharge, Bill lived the song "My Way."

He was a gifted salesman who traded horses {and just about anything else}, sold turquoise across the country and used cars, owned a bar and service station, served as an electrician's apprentice and managed G&G Longhorns in Northern Virginia. His favorite place on earth was the auction block - a career that spanned 54 years until he retired this past April. While Bill had a booming voice, he never yelled, just encouraged loudly, very loudly.

Bill was a legend in the Longhorn community and he and late friend Ben Gravett created the Millennium Futurity Longhorn Show. Bill's greatest passion was storytelling and he remained true to the Davidson family creed - never let the truth interfere with a good story. His favorite hobby was bragging about the exploits of his children and grandchildren with the coffee shop clan, known as CAVE {Citizens Against Virtually Everything}.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Cheryl "Susie" Key Davidson of the home, children, Shelly and her husband Tom Davis of Midlothian, Texas, Colonel Wolfe Davidson and his wife Vanessa of Washington D.C., Bear Davidson and his wife Ashlyn of Catlett, Virginia, Samantha Davidson of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, step-children, Mark Helm and Tom Deutche Helm of Oklahoma City, Eric Helm and Sherry Helm of Chandler, Oklahoma and seven grandchildren with an eighth on the way. Old Man -- You know what!

A memorial service and celebration of life ceremony in the Davidson tradition will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2nd at the Bell Cow Ranch Lodge.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
