William "Danny" Daniel, Jr., 72, of Floydada, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 11, 2021 in Thackerville. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Texas. Visitation will follow services.
Danny was born July 6, 1949 to William "Dub" and Margaret Daniel of Floydada. Danny loved teaching and helping people all of his life. He attended Floydada schools and continued his education by attending courses at Amarillo Junior College, South Plains College, and Texas Tech University. During his early life, he studied welding, sales photography and in 1980, he received his private pilot's license.
Danny's career was filled with a variety of experiences that shaped his life. He began work on his family's farm, and in the 1980s, he opened DanCo, his own welding shop. Danny also enjoyed working with computers and fixing computers for people around the West Texas area. Danny loved cooking, especially barbecue and brisket. He and his wife Cheryl operated Tubby's Grub BBQ, sharing their delicious food with the public.
In 2005, Danny began work as a catastrophic insurance adjuster, helping families get back on their feet after storms. No matter what type of job he held until he retired in 2017, Danny's focus was always to help people.
Danny was a joyful and beautiful soul with a wicked sense of humor and he had many interests. He was always passionate about music, including playing drums in The Mysterys, a rock band he shared with his dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Brush Daniel of Floydada; three children, Chad Daniel of Lubbock, Texas, Ashley Mathes and husband Chad of Grantville, Kansas, and William "W.R." Daniel IV and wife Caroline of Dallas; sister, Ilene Kendrick and husband Byron of Denison, Texas; and four grandchildren, Tucker, Tanner and Tristan Muskrat, and Coda Daniel.
