Kevin Jay Dancer, a cherished member of the Durant community, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on January 14, 1957, Kevin's life was a testament to the joy of simple pleasures and the strength of faith and friendship.
Kevin was known for his friendly demeanor and faith-filled spirit, touching the lives of many with his kindness and warmth. He was the beloved owner of a collectible shop, where his passion for unique treasures was evident to all who entered. Kevin had a love for being outdoors. He found great joy in gardening, nurturing all of his plants and flowers. A devout member of the First Baptist Church in Durant, Kevin found great peace in his faith.
He is survived by his uncle, Jack Dancer of Stillwater, Oklahoma; his nephews, Aaron Dancer and wife Jaimie of Royce City, Texas, James William Dancer II, and Zachary Michael Gervenak; as well as his cousins, Diana Brown, Jannie Thiessen, Joyce Ann Borisy, Sheri Dykes, and the Maddux family, as well as his former sister-in-law Robin Yocom.
Kevin was preceded in death by his loving parents, James William and Mary E. (Latham) Dancer, and his brother, James David Dancer. The values instilled in him by his family remained a guiding force throughout his life, and his memory will continue to be honored by those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held to honor Kevin’s life at a later date.
